Laser technology changes private property market in South Africa

{pp}The online property market has grown in leaps and bounds in the last couple of years. Today, many property buyers start their property searches online and a growing number buy property via Private Property websites before needing the help of estate agents. The evolution of the online property business is taken one step further by a new company operating in South Africa called MyRoof.co.za who shows FLOOR PLANS for every property listed.
MyRoof.co.za becomes the first South African property website to publish floor plans for all its listed properties.

MyRoof is the latest player to enter the online Private Property marketplace and according to the marketing director Gert van der Walt their big advantage is the ability to display floor plans of every listed property

Advantage of floor plans.

Gert van der Walt explained the advantages of laser drawn floor plans:

“When buyers go online to look for property, they need more than just pictures to find what they want. A floor plan brings the pictures together, and tells a lot more about the property at a single glance.”

Van der Walt states that the technology took two years to perfect, and that the biggest issue during development was the time constraint:
“Everyone can draw a floor plan, but because it normally takes too long to do it correctly, no-one has previously succeeded in showing a detailed plan for all their properties that are for sale.”

Property buyers are able to see wide angle photographs of every room, with numbers on the floor plan indicating where the photographs were taken from, to help them ‘navigate’ around the property.

Price

The surprising fact about MyRoof is that all their properties are private sales, so no commission is due to anyone. MyRoof only charges the seller a once off listing fee, starting at R495 and properties remain online until they are sold. Because of the current financial situation MyRoof has introduced a “pay when you sell” option where sellers can only pay when once their properties are sold.

MyRoof launched with branches in Pretoria, Jo’burg and Capetown, but can accommodate sellers countrywide. The Private Property website launched on 1 October 2008 and already have several thousand properties listed countrywide.
