Natural and Organic Exhibition

{pp}The Natural and Organic Exhibition held their expo at the CTICC this year with a, according to reports, over 30% increase in visitor attendance. The venue was filled to the brim with ‘green’ products and services ranging from a variety of sectors, including shopping centres, beauty products and fashion items. What excited us was that amongst all the natural and organic products and services on display, where friendly faces from the built environment, including; solar technologies, low VOC paints and waste water management systems.

It didn’t take long before we discovered ourselves in the construction section of the floor plan, mingling with like-minded green building members. While the Natural and Organic Exhibition is aimed at the Consumer, as oppose to B2B, it was still worth the visit. There were plenty of products available for residential homes and a whole double stand dedicated to “Sustainable Home Solutions.” However the built environment wasn’t only on display. The “Simply Green” magazine used the exhibition as a venue to officially launch their publication. A few other publications where also on display including “The Journal of Natural Medicine”.

There were also food stands dedicated to show the healthy options of organic foods. There were chefs on hand demonstrating the future of eating in the Conscious Cooking Corner and Pick ‘n Pay where interacting with the public on their new range of organic food produce. Overall the event catered for over 14 thousand patrons during the three-day exhibition. It has been 5 years since the launch of the annual show and each year the show doesn’t only grow in number of visitors, but in number of companies wanting to get involved as more and more products and businesses turn to the ‘green’ light.

This year the show zones, which is a popular signature of the exhibit, included a Lifestyle Stage of over 80 live performances and interactive demonstrations exploring green business and lifestyle trends, and the Organic Wine Lane of snacks and wine, grappa and brandy tasting. Although the 2008 show has just barely come to an end, the company is already planning for their 2009 show to be bigger and better. Returning to the original launching place of the exhibition, the Natural & Organic Products 2009 exhibition will be hosted in Johannesburg next June.

The Venue is scheduled to be hosted at the Coca Cola Dome in Northgate.
