{pp}John Bezuidenhout, the MD of Le Domaine in Hillcrest, today announced that the development’s Life Rights options have been selling exceptionally well - these include the apartment styled units at Montpelier Mews and Alsace du Lac.

The Life Rights System is a retirement option that costs less overall. This option provides the buyer with a means of supplementing their income from the sale of a previous home without having to sacrifice their lifestyle or standard of living. Once the price of the unit has been paid, the buyer only has to pay the monthly levy / rates and does not have to be concerned about the cost of their accommodation escalating beyond their means. This retirement option sets the price of accommodation for the life time of the buyer and does not include transfer duty.

Locally, the Life Rights System has been officially recognised by the Housing Schemes for Retired Persons Act of 1988 and it is an option that is said to be ideally suited to the retired individual in their 70’s or 80’s. As Jenny Aitken, a Director from Wakefields says, “The advantage of the life rights offering is that the buyer has access to the active lifestyle options of Le Domaine and can plan for a full and enjoyable retirement, knowing that their investment is secure and they are not going to be financially drained.” Montpelier Mews has been designed to create a ‘lock up and go’ lifestyle amid the indigenous paradise of meandering streams and lush vegetation of Le Domaine.

With spacious units of 104sqm available, the 26 apartments of Montpelier Mews are priced from R671 000 for a 1 bedroom unit to R745 000 for a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit and with R905 280 as the top selling price, Montpelier Mews offers up-market detailing and unrivalled lifestyle options for those nearing or in their retirement years. The homes, which boast contemporary finishes in both the bathrooms and kitchens, come complete with granite tops and fitted appliances, including a fridge freezer, washer/dryer combination and integrated microwave. Each unit also comes standard with a covered car port. Phase 3, the last development of Montpelier Mews will feature magnificent landscaped indigenous gardens incorporating water troughs, fountains, gargoyles and cobbled driveways.

The rich vegetation and luscious green trees will soften the buildings and allow for shady areas to enjoy the outdoors on a hot Durban summer afternoon with family and friends. Situated in the heart of Le Domaine, Alsace du Lac overlooks the verdant and ecologically sensitive gardens of the development and represents the pinnacle of fine, low maintenance living in a secure, gated estate. Comprising 34 exclusive units, Alsace du Lac has been designed for those who appreciate the finer things in life and who enjoy sophisticated entertaining. Featuring living areas that flow out through wooden concertina doors onto spacious covered patios, the 2 bedroom units, with study, are fitted with gourmet styled kitchens with a microwave, fridge freezer, ceran stove and dishwasher. These spacious 200sqm apartments are priced from R2, 257, 000 and each unit comes complete with a double garage.

The Life Rights options in Le Domaine represents the epitome of a secure and active lifestyle founded on vitality and companionship and Le Domaine has taken the lead by establishing itself as the country’s premier upmarket development geared towards meeting the needs of these active over 50’s. Designed to be more than just a retirement village, the development has provided exclusive facilities to the residents in the interests of promoting their quality of life.

These include Club de Vie with its extensive list of social activities from ball room dancing to whiskey tasting, as well as a set of comprehensive health and wellness activities. Residents have access to an indoor heated swimming pool, tennis courts, bowling greens, a spa, sauna and beauty salon and in an effort to maximise convenience, the development also offers a library, cinema, shop and DSTV access in all units.
