French cooking classes at the V&A Waterfront

Submitted by: Nadege

Nadege Cuisine has grown successful in Cape Town amongst lovers of delicate cuisine, true french accent and anything French in general!!

As of March 2013, the energetic and always smiling Nadege has been invited to hold weekly on hand cooking classes at the V&A Waterfont, precisely at the Food Market. That follows a series of seriously original, high in cultural delight, culinary trips to her Normandy of birth, where a number of Lucky South African and other english speakers have accompanied her in 2012, and which will develop even further in 2013 and forward.

"I grew up in the country side of one of the most authentic French region, Normandy, and very early in age I developped a passion for cooking that carried on until today. It was only logical that after a career in sales I ended up starting my own French cooking experience workshops. I say that because even though technically my customers come to a hands on cooking class, they also, if I listen to them, go back home like having gone on a trip to France. Maybe it's because I am incapable to get rod of my strong French accent, or maybe it;s because we end up sharing the meal and talking about France, with my also very French husband joining with his wines. That's why the idea came to take these lovely people all the way to Normandy for a week of culinary and cultural experience. Each of my guest on the tours in France eventually become friends, because it's very exclusive, only 6 persons at a time, and we spend a full week together, so there's lots of talks, sharing and experiences that live together and build friendships. If it carries on like that I may end up with lots of friends when I'm old!!!" says a joyful Nadege from the V&A Waterfront where she will now also be receiving her guests, at least the ones who won't go with her to France (yet).

Willie XXXX, who went to France with Nadege in 2012, wrote this on her website:  “Thank you so much for a wonderful experience, Nadege. Your attention to detail, enthusiasm, knowledge of the area and of the local food have made it an unforgettable holiday that I will not hesitate to recommend to anyone! And Frederic’s willingness to share his wine expertise  made it even more special!”.

So far the lucky apprentice French cooks had to drive to Fish Hoek, where the experience looked like being on a French boat, because from anywhere in the house, all one can see is the Ocean. The house is high up on the side of the mountain, overlooking False bay, the whales (in season) and other ocean things... A unique experience too. But the biggest part of Nadege's success is not the location, as great as it is, the real key is her positive and vibrant personality, and that is why a few South African and international media have started to show interest in what she does and who she is, as one can see in the media section of her website. This is also what's captivating about Nadege: she still has time to write on her blog and Facebook page, telling stories, giving tips, sharing recipes, and always with a unique style and French touch.

Bon appetit!!
