Rand Outfitters is a clothing and footwear retailer and one of the major retailers in South Africa of branded & non-branded footwear. It has opened its doors to Belleshhh Nail Bar at its Jabulani Mall outlet in Soweto, Southwest of Johannesburg.

Belleshhh Nail Bar, a “whole vibe” as described by its Facebook page, got a splendid opportunity to set up its operations at Rand Outfitters Jabulani store in July 2020.

According to Belleshhh Nail Bar founder Hannah Kgapane, the opportunity to operate at Rand Outfitters came about after “Riad saw our Nail Bar in Mams Mall and was impressed. He then asked for my numbers from Mams Mall center management and organized a meeting. That's when he proposed the idea to me”.

An idea that has come to fruition, identifying new ways of enhancing opportunities for township entrepreneurs is a passion for Riad Laher. Rand Outfitters (RO) Managing Member.

By providing space in one of their stores, to the nail bar, Riad explains that it’s one of many initiatives that RO has undertaken in recent years to assist township entrepreneurs, as in most cases capital is a major problem. RO has always been on the lookout for young, vibrant and hungry entrepreneurs to collaborate with from the communities. We came across Belleshhh after being very impressed by their services and set up in the center court of one of the malls in Tshwane. Says Riad.

The setup for Belleshhh will be a permanent according to Riad. “We hope to make it a commercially viable setup for both parties. We are already encouraged by the initial response. We hope to assist in rolling out in all our stores in future”.

Rand Outfitters has hopes to have permanent space allocated to emerging township brands in all of their stores, giving them exposure to formal retail. They plan to embed these spaces in all future stores.

“The opportunity is a step in the right direction for us because opening other branches have always been on my (our) mind. So far people take us more seriously when they hear we have another branch in Joburg. Rand Outfitters has helped us gain new clientele through theirs. Now more people know who we are through them”. Says Hannah.
