South Africa’s best baby and lifestyle products, as voted for by BabyYumYum’s online community of parents

Nobody knows what modern parents need more than parenting and lifestyle portal BabyYumYum. Over the past four years the website has established itself as The #1 Parenting Portal for trusted expert advice and lifestyle content and have grown a loyal online community of over 230 0000 parents and caregivers. Tapping into that valuable resource, BabyYumYum took the guesswork out of choosing the top baby buys when they launched the first of its kind Baby Product Awards in 2019.

Opting to run the awards independently, rather than securing a big-brand sponsor, owner and chief mommy Amanda Rogaly explains, “Retail and shopping habits have changed over the past year, and have been affected by Covid-19, so it was important for us to try and level the playing field, giving smaller brands the opportunity to be acknowledged for their own strengths. Last year, over 150 000 readers nominated and voted for – via online poll – their favourite products across six categories: Bathing & Changing, Feeding Equipment, Maternity, Food, Travel & Safety, and Stores. The result was a comprehensive list of over 25 of the best parent-and-baby buys available in South Africa, chosen by the people who actually use them.

And for this year’s BabyYumYum Product Awards, BabyYumYum are taking things up a notch. “Not only have we invested more resources into this year’s competition, but we have also included more lifestyle-focused categories, like beauty, because parents are people with varied interests too, which we support with our quality daily lifestyle content,” says Rogaly.

"Whether you're a new or more 'experienced' parent, shopping for baby and lifestyle products can be overwhelming and confusing," explains Rogaly. "Awards like these where we’ve honoured the best and most highly-rated products, help to guide parents, giving them confidence in their purchasing decisions, while also saving them time and money.”

Product nominations took place in August, with over 250 brands being nominated, and through the voting process in September, these will be whittled down to a list of  top voted products that will help parents know exactly what’s worth trying, and buying.
