The 2020 Guide to Coffee Machines in South Africa under R10 000 has just been released by Frontier Coffee.

This year, they have identified three machines in each of four categories of coffee machine as being their choices. The categories include:

• filter coffee machines
• coffee capsule machines
• manual espresso machines
• automatic coffee machines 

"These are the machines we like and would use" says Steve Giddings, Managing Director of Frontier Coffee. "Frontier has been supplying coffee machines to the South African market for 17 years now, and so we thought we should use our experience and share the machines we like" he adds. Making coffee is of course a very personal experience and tastes differ, so how one person views a coffee machine and its coffee making ability, may not be how another person would view it. So Frontier Coffee looked at three different choices in each category to try and find coffee machines that might find appeal among a broader range of coffee drinkers.

"Of course, the challenge here was to find coffee machines that came in at under R10 000" he remarks. "That was relatively easy in the filter coffee and capsule coffee machine ranges, but this got progressively more difficult as we looked at manual espresso and automatic coffee machines".

For those of us who are not experts, but who appreciate a good cup of coffee, a list of pros and cons about the categories of coffee machines will also help narrow down the coffee maker that might offer us what we want.
