Sanbona Wildlife Reserve Creating Change Beyond Earth Hour

Submitted by: The P.R Team

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve, outside Cape Town and part of Shamwari Group is showing its commitment to responsible and sustainable business, and in conjunction with an Eskom Project, has undergone a vast retro fitment to energy efficient lighting. It involved the removal of over 600 Halogen and Incandescent light bulbs and replaced them with LED lighting. This advancement in technology will reduce the lighting consumption by an estimated 80-85% at the lodges on the reserve.

Sanbona believes that Earth Hour is not just an exercise to reduce carbon footprint, but a symbolic action and therefore it is not engaging in the measurement of energy/carbon reduction levels just for 1 hour on 29 March 2014 but committing to create awareness to change beyond the hour.

Comments General Manager, Paul Vorster, “We are very proud to have completed this project which we hope will inspire our guests to also conserve a vanishing way of life.”
