Submitted by: Adele Smuts
the PA desk, a new online guide encompassing all aspects of office life, went live in August.  The site aims to optimise efficiency and improve the work experience of Personal Assistants through a wealth of information, a range of useful templates and services relevant to the Office Management sector.

the PA desk provides an excellent forum for targeted advertising as it has been proven that Personal Assistants are responsible for a variety of tasks ranging from travel arrangements, restaurant bookings to buying corporate gifts on a daily basis.

According to a survey conducted by the Star Workplace and CareerSuccess, modern Assistants are positioned as the key decision makers whent it comes to the following:
  • 82% Co-ordinate functions and events
  • 75% Arrange travel
  • 73% are involved in Office management decisions
  • 69% Purchase Office supplies
  • 62% Influence their Superior's buying decisions
  • 50% Purchase equipment within a budget

Whilst the PA desk is believed to be a first in South Africa, similar sites in the UK and America have proved extremely popular among PAs and their bosses.
