Financial services provider Ithala SOC Limited is firing on all cylinders again with the refurbishment of most of its branch buildings and ATMs that were damaged during the unrest in KwaZulu-Natal.

Ithala suffered the loss of infrastructure and equipment during the unrest. 

Dr. Thulani Vilakazi, CEO of Ithala SOC Limited, said: “I am filled with pride when I hear that our Ithala family members gallantly protected the business premises, their colleagues, and our customers in the face of the unrest. And all this whilst battling a raging COVID-19 pandemic. I am most thankful for such passion, loyalty, and commitment of our people. 

“We are almost there with our full recovery journey, just a few ATMs that need to be installed, we have 60 working ATMs currently. 

 For the burned branches we have temporary sites we have secured for some of our unavailable branches. We appeal to our customers near closed branches to bear with us and use the nearest opened branches.  

“The destruction of branches and ATMs made it impossible for people to draw their wages or salaries and make payments.

“We are happy and relieved to announce that various Ithala branches are open again,” he said.

However, the following branches are still closed:

Umgeni (The nearest branch is at Mutual Mall, Gardiner Street) KwaMashu (Clients can visit Gardner Street branch for transactions)Eshowe (The nearest branch is in Empangeni) Bulwer (The temporary site is at the local municipality building offices)
