The Mpumalanga Social Media Boot Camp, organised by Red Carpet Marketing, will take place at the Wrinkler Protea Hotel in White River on 24 – 25 May 2012. The content and discussions are geared towards high-level marketing professionals and executives. This strategy-based boot camp is ideal for people who are looking for practical ways to implement social and digital marketing strategies in their organisations.

Attendees can expect world-class presentations by thought leaders in South Africa’s digital marketing, multimedia and marketing industries. Some of the topics to be discussed include why social technologies are exploding; the role of social media in today’s organisations; the 15 unique social dynamics that Web 2.0 has delivered to the world and how to implement a social media strategy in 12 easy steps.

Francois Muscat, WSI Digital Marketing Consultant, will be presenting on the first day of the boot camp. “There are specific reasons why Web 2.0 has become such a powerful force so quickly. By examining these dynamics, an organisation can build a winning strategy. Self-forming online communities and the ability to communicate with millions of people with the click of a button are some of the topics that I will be addressing during my presentation,” says Francois.

Francois explains that while many social media conferences offer presentations on case studies and great ideas regarding social media strategies, the Mpumalanga Social Media Boot Camp will focus on practical ways to start using social media and which steps to follow to achieve great results.

“I will be presenting a 12-step plan to implement a social media strategy. You will learn how to crowdsource, integrate your social strategy with your sales department, how to manage the type of content you are going to be publishing and how to measure the results,” says Francois.

Another presenter that attendees can look forward to seeing is Trevor Madondo, Managing Director of Flowamedia. Trevor has been a prominent local social media influencer since he co-hosted the YFM Breakfast Show and started to manage the show’s social media accounts back in 2008.  Since then, the Breakfast Show has grown into a TV channel called Soweto TV which broadcasts to the community of Soweto and Channel 150 on DSTV all over Africa.

Trevor is currently the Multimedia Producer and co-host on Metro FM’s Entertainment & Lifestyle Show. His presentations will focus on choosing the right social media platforms, how to set up and run a blog, measuring the return on investment (ROI) of your social media initiatives and which traps to avoid when using social media.

The cost of the boot camp is R499.00pp per day and all meals and parking will be included in the event.
