Image[Pressportal.co.za] Save the world – unplug your charger from the wall.

Inspired by Al Gore’s Climate In Crises, here are five ways to save the environment without spending a cent. 1. Unplug your charger from the wall when not using it. Even though your phone is not plugged in, the charger is still drawing energy from the wall socket.
2.    Turn electronics off at the wall when you’re not using them. (Entertainment systems, TV etc) Switch the plugs off over night, during the day while you’re at work, and especially when you’re going to be staying away for a while. This will save thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide a year.
3.    Check your tires weekly to make sure they’re properly inflated
Proper inflation can improve fuel mileage by more than 3%. Since every gallon of petrol saved keeps 20 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, every increase in fuel efficiency makes a difference!
4.    Use a clothesline instead of a dryer whenever possible
You can save 350 kg’s of carbon dioxide when you air dry your clothes for 6 months out of the year.
5.    When you replace your lightbulb, use a compact fluorescent light bulb (cfl)
CFLs use 60% less energy than a regular bulb. This simple switch will save about 150kg’s of carbon dioxide a year. You can purchase CFLs online from the at Spar, Friendly-11 and almost any grocer.

MAKE THE CHOICE TO MAKE THESE CHANGES TODAY.
THE SMALLEST DEED IS BETTER THAN THE GREATEST INTENTION.
